About Buffalo Smudge
My name is William Brady, a dedicated wildcrafting practitioner, based in Southern California since 1997.
Wildcrafting is an art that requires perpetual learning, observation, and year-round commitment to nature. True dedication to this practice is best achieved by embracing ancient traditions and engaging in spirit work, and always with sincerity and devotion. I specialize in harvesting spirit-calling medicines in a traditional manner, and I am honored to be entrusted and guided in this sacred work. These medicines, sometimes known as "vestiges," help maintain and restore balance in the lives of those who use them and those they care about. Our goal is to share our healing medicine and principles in a way that honors our traditions with reverence and transparency.
Why choose Buffalo Smudge when there are so many other sage companies available? Buffalo Smudge is a Pan-Indian and First Nations company, crafted with the utmost care, intention, and respect. William "Bill" Brady has been wildcrafting all-natural smudge sticks and Native American plant medicine in Southern California for over 28 years, with heritage rooted from Muskogean and Mohican tribes, and with connections to various other Western Indigenous communities such as Chumash and Blackfeet. Billy was taught the sacred practice of wildcrafting over many years by Elder and Chief Victor “Sky Eagle” Lopez of the Santa Barbara Chumash people.

At Buffalo Smudge, we source only the finest materials, wildcrafted in the ways of our ancestors. We are honored to collaborate with various tribes across North America and are proud to employ and support people of color whose expertise and artistry contribute to our unique and authentic product offerings. Supporting our company helps us to support our communities and collaborators.
